According to Crystal Palace chairman, Steve Parish, there are already conversations in place to introduce strict salary rule in the premier league that prevents clubs from having a staggering wage difference between them.

This according to the conversation will promote fairness and parity within the competition and prevent the staggering advantage the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United may have on lesser opponents.

 The proposed salary cap, if introduced, would place limits on the amount of money the wealthiest clubs can allocate to player salaries.

Specifically, it would restrict the salary costs of the top clubs to a multiple of the revenue generated by the bottom club through broadcasting rights.

This approach seeks to narrow the financial divide between clubs at the pinnacle and those further down the pecking order.

Furthermore, Steve Parish has unveiled that a maximum salary cap is also under consideration, suggesting that there might be a cap on individual player earnings. Such a cap could significantly impact the massive wages earned by some of the sport’s top stars.

In shaping this potential policy, the Premier League is looking to follow in the footsteps of UEFA’s recently introduced structure.

Under UEFA’s new regulations, teams are limited to spending 70% of their turnover on wages and player transfers, with the possibility of an extension up to 85%.
