Kailani urged all Nigerians to lend their support to Tinubu's vision and goals for the nation.

Addressing the opposition, Kailani urged them to desist from distractions and allow President Tinubu to focus on addressing the country's challenges. He emphasized Tinubu's competence in navigating both symmetric and asymmetric warfare for the betterment of the masses.

According to Kailani, President Tinubu possesses the vision, strategic acumen, and a concrete plan based on evidence and realism to significantly enhance the quality of life for all Nigerians. He stressed the need for the opposition to concentrate on resolving issues within their own political parties before offering advice or criticism.

Kailani called out opposition leaders, highlighting instances where they could have utilized their wealth to benefit the country, such as Peter Obi of the Labour Party and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, both allegedly holding substantial amounts of money in personal accounts abroad. He criticized their post-defeat behavior, accusing them of engaging in wishful thinking politics rather than actively contributing to national development.

APC clears 12 Edo gov aspirants ahead of primary election

 The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State has given the green light to all 12 contenders eyeing the governorship seat as they gear up for the party's primary election set for February 17.

These aspirants are in the running for the state gubernatorial ticket in the upcoming September 2024 gubernatorial election.

The APC revealed that 12 hopefuls will undergo screening ahead of the party's primary election.

Notably absent at the oath-taking ceremony, held on Thursday at the national headquarters of the APC in Abuja, were the National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, and the National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru.

All 12 contenders received clearance from the party's National Gubernatorial Aspirants Screening Committee, chaired by Prof. Taoheed Adedoja, following a two-day screening exercise held from February 8 to February 9, 2024.

This announcement was made in a statement issued on Saturday by the APC National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Arugungu, in Abuja.

Arugungu confirmed that all cleared aspirants would receive a Certificate of Screening clearance on Saturday at the party's secretariat.

Among the cleared contenders are former Minister of State for National Economic Planning, Clem Agba; Senator Monday Okpebholo representing Edo Central; former Deputy Governor, Lucky Imasuen; Anamero Dekeri, representing Etsako Federal Constituency; former APC governorship candidate, Osagie Ize-Iyamu; and Gideon Ikhine.

Also cleared are retired Colonel David Imuse, former Executive Director of Finance and Administration of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Major-General Charles Airhiavbere (retired); former Governor Oserheimen Osunbor; former Zonal Organising Secretary (South-South), Dr. Blessing Agbohmere; Dennis Idahosa, representing Ovia South/West-Ovia North/East Federal Constituency; and Dr. Ernest Umakhihe.

Arugungu's statement read, "The All Progressives Congress (APC) Edo State Gubernatorial Aspirants’ Screening Committee has screened and cleared all the 12 gubernatorial aspirants that physically presented themselves to be screened by the party’s screening committee.

"All the 12 aspirants who purchased the Expression of Interest Forms and Nomination Forms were screened by the screening committee over a two-day period between Thursday 8th February 2024 and Friday 9th February 2024.

"The Certificate of Screening will be presented to all the 12 Gubernatorial aspirants at the party’s Secretariat by the National Organising tomorrow Saturday 10th February 2024."

In an exclusive interview with RALD News Media, Dr. Ilyasu Musa Kwankwaso, a key figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano, has strongly advised Governor Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf to await the Supreme Court's judgment regarding his appeal against the Court of Appeal's decision, which led to his removal from office. Kwankwaso stressed the significance of refraining from organizing protests, emphasizing the need to conserve taxpayers' money during this critical legal process.

He highlighted false claims of serious tension in Kano, attributed to sponsored protests funded by the NNPP, which he deemed a violation of the Peace Accord.

According to Kwankwaso, the peace and tranquility witnessed in Kano indicate that there is no real tension in the state, attributing any perceived unrest to sponsored protests. He criticized NNPP for wasting Kano's resources by taking political issues to international bodies rather than awaiting the Supreme Court's decision.

Kwankwaso accused NNPP of preventing the masses from resting, alleging the sponsorship of innocent youths to cause tension and chaos in the state. He argued that the people of Kano, guided by their beliefs, cannot be swayed by sponsored protests, expressing confidence that the Supreme Court will rule in favor of APC.

Rald News Media reports that the Labour Party in Imo State has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of denying its candidate in the November 11 election, Athan Achonu, access to certified true copies of documents used for the concluded election as required by law.

This news platform understands that the opposition party made the accusation in a statement on Saturday, signed by Chibuikem Diala, Director of Media and Publicity for the Senator Athan Achonu Campaign Organisation.

The statement reads:” Our notice has been drawn to mischievous plans by Imo State INEC under Prof. Sylvia Agu to deny our legal team access to certified true copies of documents used for the November 11 governorship election in Imo State as required by law.

“This is after an official request has been made by our solicitors to the State INEC Office, duly acknowledged and received on November 15, 2023.

“It is pertinent at this stage to alert the national chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the security agencies of these devious delay tactics, which may be to further deny our party and the candidate of the Labour Party in the November 11 election justice. This is unacceptable and we request that INEC do the needful immediately, as time is of the essence.

 

“Some pertinent questions begging for answers include: If INEC does not have anything to hide and is willing to come to equity with clean hands, why then delay the release of the CTC of requested materials?

 

“INEC was so efficient in announcing the results of 27 LGA in less than 12 hours after the elections; why then is it taking the same INEC over 144 hours to issue the documents backing their pronouncements? One would expect a better and more efficient approach from the electoral body.

“We only hope that this delay is not a decoy by Imo State INEC and agents of the APC-led government to perfect their rigging by tampering with sensitive materials in INEC office. This strategy to deny the people of Imo State the opportunity to have a leader of their choice will not work, as we call on INEC to do the needful and stop taking Imolites for granted.

 

“Therefore, we also call on the security agencies and INEC, led by Prof. Mahmoud, to do all they can to ensure that the certified true copies are released as requested and timely too.

 

“While we wait for INEC to do the needful speedily, we further assure the caretaker governor in Imo State to enjoy his “Certificate of Return” only for a moment as he  it to the rightful owner.”

Minister Nyesom Wike Denies Demanding 25% from Rivers Government, Urges Unity 

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has refuted allegations claiming that he demanded 25% from the Rivers State government. He dismissed the accusers as misinformed. 

Wike made this statement during a visit by a delegation from the Rivers Caucus in the 10th National Assembly, comprising three senators and eleven members of the House of Representatives, in Abuja.

Addressing the accusations, Wike emphasized that he served as the governor of Rivers for eight years and is currently dedicated to his role as FCT Minister.

He clarified, “I am not interested in the governance of Rivers; I am not interested. I am here as a governor in FCT, but I am interested in the political structure of Rivers, which we have built over the years.” 

He strongly warned against any attempts to dismantle the political structure established in Rivers, cautioning that such actions would lead to severe consequences for the instigator.

 Wike encouraged members of the caucus to work cohesively for the betterment of the people of Rivers. 

He assured them that any feedback or advice provided is intended to ensure the continued progress and success of the state.

 Reflecting on the challenges faced as an opposition party since 2015, Wike expressed gratitude for the support received.
