Yul Edochie holds first online service, narrates how he was called into ministry

Renowned Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie, recently initiated the inaugural church service for his online ministry, True Salvation Ministry, conducted on his YouTube channel. In a virtual gathering held on Sunday, Yul shared the profound story of his spiritual journey, detailing his divine calling and the moment when he distinctly felt God's guidance.

Opening up about pivotal moments where others recognized his potential for ministry, Yul highlighted a life-altering car accident on the Ore road as the turning point that led him to wholeheartedly embrace his calling. Following a narrow escape from a potentially fatal outcome, Yul recounted a transformative experience where an unmistakable voice prompted him to dedicate his life to serving God and humanity. This revelation marked the inception of what he described as his "second life," distinct from his previous pursuits.

While Yul initially aspired to establish a physical church with a sizable congregation, he revealed that God intervened, directing him to start humbly and make use of the resources at his disposal.

In his own words, Yul shared, “As far back as 2012, 2013, I'll meet a couple of men of God, pastors, and they will always tell me that you are destined to be a minister of God, you can’t run away from it, you are going to be a minister. As time went by, I started to hear the voice myself, like anywhere I am, most of the time when I’m in an enclosed place, just me, I’ll be hearing that voice telling me you are going to work for God.”

Having announced the launch of his Christian program, True Salvation Ministry, on YouTube last week, Yul Edochie is poised to deliver sermons, sharing his spiritual insights and experiences with a global audience through the online platform.

The controversial singer, Abdulazeez Fashola, alias Naira Marley, and Lagos socialite, Samson Eletu, alias Sam Larry, have filed a fundamental rights suit to challenge their continued detention over the death of 27-year-old singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, alias Mohbad.

Joined as defendants in the suit filed before the Federal High Court in Lagos were the police and the Lagos magistrate, Adeola Olatunbosun, who ordered their remand in police custody for 21 days.

Naira Marley and Sam Larry are each demanding N20m damages from the defendants.

In the suit filed through their lawyer, Mr Olalekan Ojo (SAN), they are urging the court to declare that the continued detention “at the Homicide Section of the Lagos State Police Command, Panti, Yaba, Lagos State since October 4, 2023,” constituted a violation of their rights.

They are seeking “an order of the court releasing the applicants forthwith.”

In the affidavits attached to their suits, deponents said, “Their travails started between October 3 and 4, 2023 when they were arrested by the police on the alleged connection of the applicants with the death of one Ilerioluwa Aloba, aka Mohbad.

“On the 4th day of October 2023, the Commissioner of Police sought an order in the Magistrates’ Court, held at Yaba to remand them for 30 days.

“Chief Magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun granted the police application to remand them for only 21 days in the custody of the police.

“The 21-day remand order granted by Chief Magistrate Olatunbosun has since lapsed on October 26, 2023, and the order has not been renewed.”

VETERAN Actor, Yemi My Lover who brought Bollywood into Nollywood

VETERAN Actor, Yemi Ayebo popularly known as Yemi My Lover was the film Producer/Director that brought Bollywood into Nollywood in Nigeria.

The veteran was born in Òkìtìpupa, the southern senatorial district of Òndó-State to the family of Pa Joshua Ayébọ̀ and Chief(Mrs) Comfort Ade Ayébọ̀ of Ìkọ̀yà in Òkìtìpupa. He is the 2nd born of the family.

His journey into acting started around 1983 and he has produced numerous movies like “Bisi My Dear”, “Sunmisola”, “Yemi My Lover”(Where he got his popular name), “Yemi In The Moon”, “Ọba Sólómọ́nì” etc.

He was popular for his stunts in movies then. This may be as a result of the Chinese and Indian films he used to watch at the cinema then that informed his passion for acting. All his stunts then were real. They were not film tricks. He fulfilled the doctrine of verisimilitude in Literature.

He is one of the products of Balogun Theatre Group owned Alhaji Rafiu Balogun, the husband of Madam Saje. However, he was initially under the duo of Godogbo and Ajirebi before they parted ways and their students had to look for other bosses to tutor them.

The likes of the popular gospel minister, Tope Alabi passed through Yemi my lover. In fact, Tope Alabi took a lead role in the movie “Yemi In The Moon” in the early 90s and as well helped Yemi My Lover in some of the sound tracks.

Another prominent actor that has a trace to Yemi My Lover is the husband of Mide Martins(Mide F.M. Abiodun), Afeez Abiodun aka Afeez Ọwọ. It was Yemi My Lover that named him ‘Ọwọ’ the first day he joined his theatre group because of how he used his hand to gesticulate his acting prowess.

Yemi My Lover was one of the first movie producers who did their own soundtracks to their movies then ever before the likes of Odunlade Adekola, Bukunmi Oluwasina etc did same.

He is also known to always sing in his movies. Songs like…

“Má lọ o, ma lọ o, má ì lọ, Mojisola Olólùfẹ́ mi, má ì lọ sé”
“Ọmọ abìjà fi mí lè…” and the likes.
