Abduction of former INEC employees: Fourth suspect apprehended while hiding in girlfriend’s ceiling
Mrs. Caroline Bassey, a former employee of INEC, was abducted, and the fourth suspect has been taken into custody by Cross River Police Command.
According to LIB, three of the kidnappers were detained by police after they freed the victim from captivity on Saturday, November 4, 2023, just hours after they had taken her from her Calabar home.
The command’s spokeswoman, SP Irene Ugbo, confirmed the development in a statement on Sunday and stated that the fugitive suspect was apprehended while hiding in his girlfriend’s home’s ceiling.
Until he was captured at approximately five in the morning, the suspect was unaware that members of the Anti-Cultism and Kidnapping Squad were pursuing him, according to the PPRO.
He has acknowledged being the mastermind behind the abduction of Mrs. Bassey. He named the individual who hired him and his group to abduct the victim as Bassey’s tenant, according to Ms. Ugbo.
